While feeling nostalgic this week I began to thumb thru some of my old negative files (yes, that is right, negatives, before there was such a thing as digital photography) and came across this black and white of the historic 29 Diner in Fairfax,VA that I photographed for a newspaper article in 1987.
I shot the photo for a feature article on what people did at night in the City of Fairfax. While the diner (then called the 29 Tastee Diner) is photogenic what made this photo work for me was the guy leaning on his car at right which added some balance and visual interest to the frame.
The diner located on Fairfax Blvd. was established in 1947. I am happy to report that the diner, now named The 29 Diner, remains in place, stronger than ever after being taken over by a new owner in 2014. To read more about the diner, please visit the 29 Diner home page at 29diner.com
