Rob Paine picked up his first camera before he turned seven. He rarely has been seen without one in his hands since.

He inherited is love of photography from his dad, who was a talented amateur photographer. Rob began his professional photography career while still in high school by shooting youth soccer games for local weeklies in Fairfax, Va.

After graduating from Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Va., with a BA in Journalism, Rob pursued a career in photojournalism, working for newspapers in North Carolina, Virginia and New Jersey, covering everything from community news to professional sports to U.S. presidents. web HOLIDAY SEASON GREETING CARDRob won dozens of state press association awards for his photography as well as for his reporting over a 15- year period, during which he also directed two photo staffs for large community weekly chains. He then moved to photo editing, working for the world’s largest wire service for nine years in Washington D.C. His photography has also appeared in national magazines.

In December, 2012, Rob wrapped up a five-year run as a manager and photo coach for one of the country’s largest wedding photography companies, where he also helped recruit new talent . He also started and ran the company’s photographers intern program which drew students from some of the top photography programs in the country.

Rob currently runs his own freelance business, specializing in multimedia, nature photography, event and wedding coverage, environmental portraiture, real estate estate photography and is available for one-on-one coaching to students and novices seeking to improve their skills in and enjoyment of photography.
