Two years ago this September Deep Creek Lake was graced with an international event, Deep Creek 2014, the 2014 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships held at ASCI on WISP Mountain. Three of the most prominent faces of that event, Americans Casey Eichfeld and Ashley Nee, shown above, and Australian Jessica Fox, see photo below, have already advanced to the semifinal level in at least one event. Eichfeld, a native of Harrisburg, Pa., was the face of the international event at Deep Creek Lake. This is his third trip to the Olympics. Eichfeld is scheduled to compete, Thursday, Aug. 11 in the Men’s Canoe Double Semifinal. Australian Fox is also scheduled to compete Thursday in the Women’s Kayak Single .
