The D.C. area has several wonderful places to photograph flowers and trees. There are parks that feature extensive gardens and of course there are the Cherry Blossoms. I was on assignment in Arlington, Va., earlier this week and found some photogenic flowers in places I did not expect to find them.
The rose photo above was taken in a garden outside the Arlington House/Robert E. Lee Memorial which is on the grounds of Arlington Cemetery. ( please see more text and additional photo)
Another place I was pleasantly surprised to find a small but inviting garden is located near the US Marine Corps War Memorial in front of the Netherlands Carillon There is a beautiful garden full of many different plants.
I shot all three of these photos early in the morning, a good time to visit as the light is great and there really were not a lot of other tourists out yet.
