I cannot think of any animal more carefree than a Giant Panda. In Washington D.C., we are so lucky to have two of them at the National Zoo.
As a matter of fact, according to local media reports, the National Zoo has been on a 24 Hour Panda Pregnancy Watch lately.
Earlier this year I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of one of the giant pandas outdoors during a visit to the zoo. (please see below for more text and additional photos)
The outdoor area of the panda habitat is well suited for photographers. The observation area is slightly below the grounds where the pandas hangout. With medium length telephoto it is easy to stay on eye level with the pandas as you basically are shooting either at ground level or up at the pandas.

On this particular day one of the pandas was out in the sunshine eating bamboo. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time when I captured these photos of the panda eating
what was probably lunch.
Lets keep our fingers crossed for a possible addition to the giant panda family soon at the National Zoo. Thanks for dropping by!
