Every fall Garrett County is host to the SavagMan Triathlon.

The race starts as a swim across beautiful Deep Creek Lake followed by bike race up some of the steepest hills you will ever see and concludes next to the lake with cross country style
running race.

The race spreads over dozens of miles. Last year I photographed the SavageMan for the first time and attempted to follow as much as it as I could.

This photo was taken out my car window as I was parked next to a slim windy road appropriately named Toothpick Road which takes cyclists up a steep hill from the lake to the countryside around the Deep Creek Area. I shot this at about a 30th of a second and panned the camera as the bikers whirred by. The bikers’ outfits really added to the motion and color of this scene.
