The Washington D.C Area is home to some of the country’s grandest churches including of course the National Cathedral.
The cathedral features magnificent architecture, amazing stone and metal work and my favorite, classic stained glass windows.
Every window is a piece of art. What I found most fascinating was how sunlight filtering through the stained glass painted the church’s walls and floors with color as shown in today’s photo that I took a few years ago.
This photo reminds me of some great advice I once received about approaching a scene : before you ever take a single frame, look at what you are about to photograph. It sounds so basic but incorporating this step into your photography will allow you to see details and notice nuances most will miss. Look for the picture within the picture.
