
It always amazes me that I can travel hundreds of miles sitting in a car for hours in search of nature with no luck yet I can look out my suburban window on a warm summer’s night and see the beauty shown above. (please see second photo and more text below)

I captured these images as the sun was about to go down. Glancing out a kitchen window I spied this deer in the corner of the yard. I sneaked around the side of the house only to see the deer leap into a neighbor’s yard. Drats! (OK, that was not the exact word I used)
After gently walking to a fence line I peered over a bush and saw this magnificent animal, standing against a perfect black background yet illuminated by soft overhead light filtered by the trees above. It froze for what seemed like several minutes (probably about 30 seconds) as I photographed away. A noise startled the deer and in an instant it was gone.
