This photo was pulled from my oldies file. Its of an object we typically see and use every day, an egg (please see more text below)
The first time I photographed white eggs was for a college lighting class. The challenge is how do you create different tones and shadows shooting something white on a white background.
The thinking being, if you can accomplish lighting an egg or a group of eggs in this case, you can light nearly anything.
It was fun exercise and taught me a great deal about the nuances of lighting.
By the way, several years later when I would need to photograph the occasional unfurnished apartment complex model for a commercial assignment, the tricks I learned in my lighting white exercise proved to be very helpful, as the majority of empty models I have shot were painted white.
