Silver Spring, Md., a city in suburban Washington, D.C., if full of art. It’s downtown area has several theaters that feature live music, plays and film including the American Film Institute Silver Theatre and Cultural Center, all conveniently located within walking distance of a Metrorail subway stop. Discovery Communications, whose stable of cable television properties include the Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and Velocity is headquartered in Silver Spring.
There are also a lot of wall murals. Please see below for second photo
I photographed these images of murals that adorn a single wall along Colesville Road, a main artery that runs thru the downtown area.
They were both very colorful. I happened to be in the area during lunch hour. It was great timing as there were a lot of people walking up and down the sidewalk in front of the murals. I always like to include people in photos like these to provide scale and establish a relationship between the wall art and people who live and work around it.
Thanks for dropping in. Look for my Weekly Photo Challenge Post later today.
Lovely images! Great how you incorporated pedestrians – really works in these shots as you mentioned for scale, and I love how the orange one almost has added story with the woman walking away. Really great captures!
