I saw this moment unfold while attending a Potomac Nationals baseball game in Woodbridge, Va., last week. Please see below for second photo and more text.
The team’s mascot, Uncle Slam decided to sit with some of the fans in the first row on the third base line during one of the opening innings. The woman, second from left, seemed to be having the best time sitting with the Single A team’s mascot. The Potomac Nationals are a Carolina League Single A affiliate of the Washington Nationals.
Below is a another shot of Uncle Slam I shot before a P-Nats game earlier this year when Washington Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman (signing autographs in photo) was on a rehab assignment in Woodbridge.
Ryan Zimmerman, who I think is one of the classiest players in Major League Baseball, signed dozens of autographs for fans before the game started.
The Potomac Nationals have already earned a spot in the Carolina League playoffs. Here in the D.C. Area, we are pulling for the the Washington Nationals to do the same.
Thanks for visiting my blog today.
P.S. – Just read that Potomac Nationals’ Cutter Dykstra just became a father! His fiancé and the baby’s mom is Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who played Tony’s daughter on “The Sopranos.” How about that! At left is a photo of Cutter I shot during the Zimmerman rehab game I attended. Below is Cutter at bat during the game I went to last week.
