Autumn color in Western Maryland is among the best in the country. The Deep Creek Lake Area in Garrett County has been rated by several prominent national Web sites and magazines including Travel and Leisure as being the best place to go leaf peeping. The color makes for great cover art. (Please see more below)
I actually shot this photo while holding my camera out the sunroof of my car while traveling 20 miles per hour on a road that winds around the lake. Please note, I was not driving at the time and I was holding on tightly to my camera strap and camera.
Another outstanding feature about autumn in the Deep Creek Lake area is while there are a lot of visitors in the area things are spread out enough so you will not face the traffic and lines similar to what you may encounter on the Skyline Drive or Blue Ridge Parkway, which are also fantastic places to photograph fall color.

Note on iPad photo apps
I am not using iPhoto for iPad anymore as it does not work on IOS8.
Apple‘s updated Photos app which allegedly replaced iPhoto for iPad is a very poor substitute which currently does not offer all the effects an options that iPhoto did. That could be corrected later on, but for the time being beware, if you update to IOS8, the iPhoto app on your iPad is a goner.
I am an Apple man, always have been and probably always will, but sometimes Apples does things that are hard to understand, and eliminating iPhoto was one of those moves. Camera + and Photoshop Touch remain as great photo apps and in my opinion are among the best and most intuitive apps to use. With the demise of iPhoto for Ipad, I would rank these two apps at the best out there right now. Both apps do not require you to sign up for online accounts and offer a lot without forcing you to pay for add ons.
One good thing about the Apple iPad Photos app is if you are limited by the effects that app offers, (and you will be,) tap the more icon on the lower right hand side of the screen and it will lead you to directly to other photo apps that you can do more with, including Camera + and Aferlight.
Interestingly enough, the app does not appear to offer direct links to Photoshop Touch or Lightroom for iPad, both Adobe products, hmm…
