Memorial Day Picnic for Baby Bluebirds

photo two

This spring has been an incredible time for bluebirds in Fairfax County.

After photographing and videotaping a family of bluebirds for the last several weeks, earlier this weekend the feeding of the fledglings on our back deck commenced.

Today, Memorial Day, the fledglings’ feeding frenzy went full tilt. Thanks to some patience and some nice overcast skies, I was able to capture these images this morning.

I hope your Memorial Day is going well. Thank you to all those (and their families) who have served and sacrificed so we can continue to enjoy the freedom we do, even in these very challenging times. We can never take  them for granted.

Bluebirds on The Big Day 2020

I hope everyone had a great Big Day 2020! Not sure if it is because we are just home more (and paying better attention) or if it some stroke of luck, but the birding within our porch view has just been amazing the last month or two.

Below is an updated version of the bluebird video I put together with some additional video of mom bluebird in honor of Mother’s Day being tomorrow!

Thanks for all the likes, views and shares. I hope our bluebirds are bringing as much joy to you as they are to us.

Rob!

Morning Mouthful for visiting Bluebirds

This morning after the rain stopped, our visiting bluebirds continued their work gathering food for their home, bringing back bugs,  many in one helping.

Yesterday, the beautiful birds chowed on our mealworm feeder, in great abundance, shown below. If. you would like to see some more bluebirds, I hope you can visit my video post from earlier this week of the blues in action.

Seeing The Bluebirds of Happiness in These Troubled Times

RWP_1656In the current crazy COVID-19 world we all find ourselves in today, it’s nice to know that nature, beauty and grace continue to go about their day, blessing us all in the process.

We are especially fortunate this spring to have an “abundance” of bluebirds in our yard. It’s so nice to be able to use that word without the accompanying “out of an” and “of caution.”

Earlier today I captured the video above of some of our resident blues who are spreading great cheer around the area.

I hope it brings those who see it some solace when it is needed most.

Stay safe and stay kind, cheers, Rob.
