Today, Saturday, June 17,2017, Fairfax County, Va., will celebrates its 275th birthday. Founded in 1742, Fairfax is a treasure trove of history. The historic Fairfax Courthouse, shown above, was built in 1799. During the Civil War, the first Confederate officer casualty took place on the courthouse grounds. (see more photos below)
There will be a host of activity in around the courthouse on Saturday. For more information on the day’s activities, please visit http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/news2/party-like-its-1742-celebrate-275-years-of-history-june-17/
My favorite time of year to photograph this historic building is during the winter when it is snows. Thanks so much for visiting my blog today.
