Every time I think of Colorado I think of John Denver’s classic song “Rocky Mountain High. “ I did not  have a true appreciation for what Denver was singing and writing  about though until I finally visited the Denver Area several  years ago.

I shot this photo of the Colorado Rockies in Estes Park, Colo., during that trip.

We drove up to the Rocky Mountain National Park area and due to the snowy and windy weather most of the park was off limits. So, we drove our trusty rental car up some country roads looking for good views of the mountains when we came upon this scene. (please see more text below)

The wind was literally kicking up a storm and the snow twirled ferociously around the mountain tops. I used the longest lens I had, (a 200mm) to isolate as much of the mountains as I could. I was imagining the entire time what it would be like to be on the top of the range in the blowing snow. It was exhilarating.

As John Denver used to say often it was “Far Out!”

Thanks for dropping by and have a great day! Rob
