Ducks and Fall Color on a Virginia Lake

The fall color in Northern Virginia was spectacular this year. We are lucky to have a small picturesque lake nearby where you can  walk dogs and enjoy nature.

For several mornings my goal was to capture a photo of a mallard gliding on the water that was saturated with a reflection  of the surrounding fall leaves.

Some  mornings the color was great but the ducks would not cooperate.

On other  days there were plenty of ducks but the light and color were not the best they could be.

Finally, on Saturday morning, nature’s Magic converged and I was able to get these photos.

I have written  before that when it comes to getting pleasing photos, beauty can be fleeting : you cannot expect that the same scene will be there tomorrow.

That was exactly the case here. Within 24 hours a strong wind had moved in to the area stripping  the trees of a great deal of their beautiful fall color, reducing greatly the colorful reflection that enhanced  these duck photos.

Thanks for visiting my blog today.
