Sometimes the most treasured moments just happen!

While looking for wild ponies early one rainy morning a few years ago in Chincoteague, Va., I was lucky to have the opportunity to photograph a lone deer wading across a marshy area of the refuge.

It was a treasured and unexpected moment. I followed the deer with my camera as it crossed the swamp and disappeared into the brush.
